Overview of One-Step Sparring
Also know as one step fixed sparing. One-step practices reactions, self-defence, blocks and strikes. As students work up through the grades, they will be expected to demonstrate faster reaction times and a wider variety of blocks and strikes.
One-step sparring is particularly useful for beginners as it reinforces basic principles of self-defense and prepares students for more advanced sparring scenarios. As practitioners progress, the complexity of counters may increase, incorporating joint locks, takedowns, or multiple strikes to simulate real combat situations.
